The Veterinary Medicine course is offered by FAFRAM since 2003 and works with the recognition of the highest MEC concept conceived by the government - concept CMB (Very Good Condition).
The course lasts 5 years full time pointing out that in the last semester (10th period), the scholar must make curricular training in veterinary practice or in research and extension Vet in the area of your choice (clinical cooperative , refrigerator, laboratory, industry, research, etc.).
The undergraduate degree in Veterinary Medicine is composed of basic disciplines to be taught in the first four periods (two years) and that will give grants for the study of professional disciplines, eg, Medical Clinic, Surgical Clinic, Reproduction, among others. Besides the compulsory subjects, the scholar will have the chance to attend different optional subjects such as: Laboratory Animals, zootherapy (Pet Therapy), Veterinary Dentistry, Veterinary Dermatology and Exercise Physiology, among others.
The contents are taught by professors of recognized standing, as attested by the excellent academic degrees and professional experience. Currently, 91.6% of the faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the course consists of professors and PhDs Masters.
The professional trained by FAFRAM be able to fully exercise the profession, involving specific abilities and skills to:
? Medical and Surgical Animal Research Laboratory and interpretation of diagnostic aids.
? a complete diagnosis, make a prognosis, treatment and indicate a direct prophylactic measures, and individual stocks.
? Planning, implementation and management of animal health programs, public health and technology from products of animal origin.
? Identification and classification of etiologic factors, understanding and clarification of the pathogenesis, prevention, control and eradication of diseases that affect animals.
? Planning and implementation of animal health protection, as well as technical assistance to animals in any situation, to ensure animal welfare and social development.
? Providing physical comfort, function, behavior for basic animal health.
? prevention or relief of pain or suffering.
? Use the conscious animal life for reasons completely justified.
? Standardization, classification, inspection and surveillance point of view of health, hygiene and technology for all products and by-products of animal origin in places of production, handling, processing, storage, distribution and marketing, and thereby lift the standards of good quality food.
? Planning, implementation and management of agricultural projects and agro-industrial, and environmental sanitation.
? Development, orientation and application of modern breeding techniques, handling animal control, nutrition, feeding and breeding.
? guidance and implementation services for animal breeding, artificial insemination, embryo transfer and animal cloning.
? Assessment and expertise on animals for administrative credit insurance and derivatives, in forensic and legal matters, surveys and research indicators of fraud involving animals.
? Knowledge of methods and techniques of scientific research in academic and scientific.
? protection of wildlife, especially the control of the exploitation of wild animals and endangered species.
? Organization of congresses, seminars, meetings, campaigns and courses for the study of Veterinary Medicine.
? administration and management directly related to their activities.
Infrastructure
Students of course have one of the best structures from all over Brazil in the newest veterinary hospital built by FAFRAM, with over 3,500 square meters, equipped with apparatus and instruments of last generation. Besides the hospital, students have library, Teaching Laboratories, Laboratory of Anatomy, Room microscopy, animal shelter (pig and cattle) and various other facilities.
