One of the basic factors of this progress is the recognition of action of the veterinarian in animal production, the promotion of animal health for the prevention and treatment of diseases and thereby improving the quality of life, for food production, animal health and public health.
Thus, the veterinarian must be a professional advanced for its time. Your training should be supplemented by conducting research and scientific deepening in search of new technologies, making veterinary medicine not only the science of animal health care and control of food production, but a revamped science, improved and updated before the reality of scientific achievements in a systematic and more efficient and rational.

The Course of Veterinary Medicine University Center Moura Lacerda aims of general professional training. Moreover, to develop ethical awareness and citizenship, which makes it committed to the needs and cultural and socioeconomic realities of the country and geographic region of their actions. The role of the veterinarian is needed in all walks of life today, such as Agriculture, Health, Education, Farming and Industry, developing a work of great importance for the proper performance of the socioeconomic activities of the country. After all, he is a professional who coordinates the program for protecting their health, protection and development of animals, controls and monitors the quality and productivity of stocks, ensuring a rational production of foods, and runs, yet skills and laboratory tests.

Functions of the Professional Degree:

• Study and implementation of public health measures with regard to animal diseases transmissible to humans;
• Assessment and expertise, as well as planning, supervision and guidance of credit and insurance to agribusiness companies;
• Standardization and classification of animal products;
• Responsibility for formulas, preparation and monitoring of animal feed;
• Investigations of animal husbandry for purposes of registration in the Companies Registry Herd-
• Examinations technological and sanitary-products of animal industry;
• Research and work related to general biology, zoology and animal husbandry as well as bromatology animal;
• Protection of wildlife, especially the control of the exploitation of wild species as well as their products;
