The Veterinary Medicine course is offered full-time and lasts for five years. Aims to train professionals and general practitioners responsible for identifying and treating diseases of large and small animals and wild. The formation of future performance allows veterinary public health by participating in programs for prevention, control and eradication of zoonoses, in addition to sanitary control of livestock and food, guaranteeing human health.
The course has the majority of graduate professors. For the development of skills and practical skills, the student has a veterinary hospital with full surgical facilities for small and large animals, clinical laboratory and diagnostic imaging, and hospital laboratory. Furthermore, it has an experimental station, attached to the campus are developed, additional practical activities involving reproduction of large animal farms and fodder cultivation. Since the first series of the course the student is encouraged to experience the working environment of participating veterinary hospital practices. Important to note that all the activities are accompanied by teachers and monitors.
The veterinarian's career in Brazil is promising considering that agribusiness is an important factor for national economy. In large centers, the job market offers opportunities in clinics and hospitals for small animals, work in the food industry, technology and inspection of animal products in the pharmaceutical industry, in companies of resales of veterinary products, in zoos and zoonoses municipal centers. In rural areas, the market is working toward the area of animal husbandry and food production, farm management and biotechnology centers involving insemination. May also act in the field of ecology, animal welfare, research, and teaching.
