The course of Veterinary Medicine provides different resources for the practical learning of their pupils, as HOVET - Veterinary Hospital, a reference in the southern region, providing care for small animals, large animals and wild animals.
At Unisa, the student of Veterinary Medicine has an opportunity to participate in groups and extension services to the community, organizing campaigns castration, donations of puppies, vaccination and awareness.
The course provides the student with Unisa more time available for study in place of your choice, for up to 20% of the total load of the course can be offered via semipresencial in accordance with the permission of the MEC, through Ordinance 4059, 10-12 -04.
In 2010, we will begin the course of Veterinary Medicine at night along the lines of course morning. Classes will be held from 2nd to 6th Tuesday evening, with practical classes on Saturdays (occasionally), which include visits to farms and slaughterhouses or similar activities.
The course provides solid training in basic subjects, general and vocational education, preparing the veterinary surgeon general to meet regional needs in all walks of life today, enabling him to fully exercise:
• general medical, surgical and clinical laboratory animal veterinarian;
• planning and implementation of animal health protection, as well as technical assistance to animals in any form, to ensure individual and collective health;
• planning, administration of estates, creation, production, screening and feeding of domestic animals;
• standardization, grading, inspection and surveillance point of view of health, hygiene and technology for all products and by-products of animal origin in places of production, handling, processing, storage, distribution and marketing, to improve the eating patterns of population and make the control of zoonoses;
• evaluation and expert on animals for administrative credit, insurance and related products in litigation and investigations, examinations and investigations reveal fraud involving animals;
• direction, supervision and control of businesses and industries of animal products, animal feed, breeding services, artificial insemination and embryo transfer, as well as exhibition-purpose recreational, sports or animal protection;
• leadership, teaching, research and extension in research institutions, schools and hospitals;
• formulation, production and marketing of products for animal health;
• protection of wildlife, especially the control of the exploitation of wild animals and their products;
• organization of conferences, seminars, meetings, campaigns and courses.
