Objective (s):
The central objectives of the Course of Veterinary Medicine are:
1. General:
The course of Veterinary Medicine, University Severino Sombra, aims generally form higher-level professional technicians trained to solve problems of animal and public health, to develop livestock production and to participate actively, with competence and professional attitude in the social context (Describe the general and specific objectives of the course);
- Practice Clinic animals in all its forms;
- Collect material, perform and interpret routine lab tests;
- To guide and encourage the control and prevention of diseases of livestock;
- Implement public health measures for prophylaxis of zoonoses;
- Perform surgery therapeutic nature, economics and aesthetics;
- Identify defects, defects, accidents and illnesses as well as conducting surveys and technical expertise about animals and their products, in judicial matters;
- Act in expertise, survey and research reveals fraud or willful intervention on the animals entered in competitions and exhibitions farming;
- Serving on inspection and supervision of food industry aimed at animal level hygienic, sanitary and technological satisfactory;
- Act on companies producing, processing and / or marketing of products of animal origin. Work in industry products for veterinary use in both production and marketing in the audit thereof;
- Develop and implement projects for livestock production facilities using appropriate techniques, nutrition and reproductive management;
- Participate in teaching, planning, coordination and implementation of technical works of animal reproduction, including management, technology, semen, artificial insemination, reproductive diseases and reproduction technologies;
- Plan, manage and evaluate their knowledge of animal production, experimentation, recreation and sports services;
- Plan and execute rural extension activities in harmony with the interests of the community;
- Participate in activities that aim to preserve the ecological environment, by protecting the fauna and control of the exploitation of species of wildlife;
- Teach courses specifically on veterinary and direct their respective sections and laboratories;
- To direct and supervise the teaching of Veterinary Medicine;
- Provide to the University conditions become a central aggregator of research institutes in animal health as well as conducting inter-exchange with other centers of emphasis in the Country .
