
Training professionals, enabling them to use biotechnologies aimed at improving production and productivity of livestock, promotion actions and recovery / rehabilitation of animals and public health work in clinical and veterinary pathology, animal welfare and public health surveillance. This is the goal of the newly launched course Cescage of Veterinary Medicine.
This course was born with a mission to fill a shortage in the region, typically agriculture, and that it needed skilled professionals for the job market. The region is still small producers without assistance, who need basic guidelines, provided the prevention of zoonoses to the improvement of the existing squad.
The activity of the Veterinarian is not related only to the health of the animal. She has the end result, too, the actions of promotion and protection of human health. The professional trained by Cescage be able to act in the prevention and control of animal diseases, contributing to increased livestock productivity. He will be able also to understand and propose solutions to the needs of individuals, populations, social groups, companies and community in relation to animal health, sanitation and the environment, health surveillance, epidemiological surveillance and monitoring in health, economics and management of agribusiness, veterinary company and the ecology and environment preservation.
To offer the course in Veterinary Medicine, the Cescage already has all the infrastructure of the campuses of Cescage and Finance School, housing the Center of Biotechnology of Animal Reproduction. Are already held in this central activity of embryo transfer, frozen semen and IVF. "This work already has recognition from all over Brazil and we can offer all this structure to our students of veterinary medicine," the course coordinator, Professor Raimundo Pereira.
Also according to the coordinator, the course came to be more a reference to the region of Campos Gerais. "We will train professionals ready to face the challenges of the labor market, giving them practical and theoretical knowledge about the profession of veterinary medicine" .
The Veterinary Medicine Course of CESCAGE in line with article 4 of the National Curriculum Guidelines for Undergraduate Veterinary Medicine, which states "provide the professional expertise to develop actions and results focused on crop science as referred to Animal Production, Food Production, Animal Health and Environmental Protection "has the general objectives:
- Training University graduates qualified for the practice of medicine
- Veterinary training them in the practice of teaching, research and extension and use of techniques aimed at improving the productivity of the herd animal, emphasizing the health and animal breeding, technology dea Tropical Mockingbirds forage in animal production and health.
- Answer the communities regarding the health, planning and actions
- prevention, promotion and restoration / rehabilitation of health of animals and public health, with work in clinical and veterinary pathology, welfare, animal welfare and human-

- Improve agricultural production processes, by obtaining new agricultural food products, new industrial and agricultural products for the improvement of agricultural food products with existing aggregate values.
Encourage the engagement of students in training activities and learning itself as the Veterinary Medicine:
- Act epidemiologically in promoting and protecting human health and animal health epizootiologically.
- Treat, restore and rehabilitate animals suffering from infectious diseases through the clinical practice of animals in all their modalities.
- Implement and improve processes of clinical pathology.
- Diagnose and predict chronic diseases and / or infeccciosas.
- Identify risks and hazards with the ability to reduce impacts on clinical medicine.
- Develop the production of milk, milk products and develop benefit, as well as the production of meat, skin, eggs and honey.
- Inspect animal products in the light of relevant legislation.
- Preserve the environment concurrently with the development of agribusiness.
- Develop technology for animal breeding, and act in biotechnology of animal reproduction in order to preserve and breeding.
- Participate in educational activities, planning, coordination and execution of technical works of animal reproduction, including management of health, nutrition and technology.
- Enhance the continuing education for their own training and other professionals.
- Implement rural extension activities in harmony with the interests of the community.
