Veterinary Hospital: one of the most modern of Bahia
The Unime has a modern veterinary hospital which is already considered a reference for professionals in the field of Veterinary Medicine in North and Northeast. It is a modern structure with human and material resources to carry out procedures for low and high complexity in the clinical, surgical, laboratory, dental and veterinary ophthalmology. It has laboratories for diagnosis of infectious diseases, parasitic diseases, medical tests, animal breeding, histopathology, center of bio-imaging (X-rays and ultrasound), surgical centers to care for large and small animal clinics, hospitalization sectors of major and small animals, kennel and sectors of surgical technique and autopsy. In addition to attending the community, the main objective of the Hospital is to expand the playing field practice of students of veterinary medicine, in its role as a teaching hospital that is part of the academic and professional.
Purpose
To prepare students with competencies and skills to serve on the management of agribusiness companies, using updated techniques in production systems, planning and implementation of animal health protection and public health programs, inspection and food technology and products of animal origin and the intervention of preventive and therapeutic clinical pathology in surgical and reproductive ¿of wild and domestic animals.
Training vets with general vision, able to critically analyze information and apply their knowledge to solve the demands of your area, always acting with social responsibility towards national development and the demands of society.
Regulated profession
The profession of veterinary medicine is regulated by Law No. 5517 of October 23, 1968 (published in the Official Gazette of 15.12.1968) and by Decree No. 64,704 of June 17, 1969. (Published in Official Gazette of 19/06/1969).
Job Market
Although the labor market experience change as a result of cyclical fluctuations and as a reflection of the scientific and technological advances, the veterinarian will have their field of work centered mainly in the areas of technology and inspection of food of animal origin, in multidisciplinary public health the control of zoonoses in veterinary pharmaceutical industry in the formulation, implementation and management and animal health programs, management of production chains and agro-industrial farming in the organization of agribusiness in the feed industry, in the course of animal medicine in all its aspects in the diagnosis of animal diseases in the defense and preservation of ecosystems in the formulation and administration of environmental protection programs, the organization of production chains linked to animal production, reproduction and breeding in the study and management of wild animals, protection of wildlife, scientific research and dissemination of technologies in the provision of specialized services through the organization of consulting firms, in teaching, management, and professional centers in Teaching and Research, planning, formulation and implementation of policies to protect health animal in the national and international trade of products of animal origin, and the planning and development of Brazilian agribusiness.
