Mehmet Akif Ersoy University was founded by law on 17 March 2006 and the number 5467 published in the official newspaper in the issue 26111. Burdur Education Faculty, Burdur School of Health, Burdur Vocational School, Bucak Hikmet Tolunay Vocational School, Gölhisar Vocational School, Bucak Emin Gülmez Technical Science Vocational School, Ağlasun Vocational School were connected to Suleyman Demirel University and Burdur Veterinary Faculty was connected to Akdeniz University which were then transferred to Mehmet Akif Ersoy University. Faculty of Letters, Institutes of Social Sciences, Science and Technology, Health Sciences were founded by the same law. Continuing Education Research and Application Center , Strategic Researches Application and Research Center, Teke Location Folk Culture Application and Research Center, and Mehmet Akif Ersoy Application and Research Center, which were were planned to be active in different science fields within our university, were also founded. In addition to Research and Application Centers; Ataturk’s Principles and History of Turkish Revolution Department, Physical Education and Sports Department, Informatics Department, Fine Arts Department, Turkish Language Department and Foreign Languages Department are active within rectorship.
Mehmet Akif Ersoy University includes 3 institutions which have graduate training programs, 3 faculties and 2 higher schools which have undergraduate training programs, and 6 vocational schools, 4 research centers, 6 departments connected to rectorship, 14.991 students and 758 personnels, which make Mehmet Akif Ersoy University as an important foundation among other universities. Furthermore, our university has been progressing day by day owing to its qualified education, research projects and scientific studies.

Final text adopted by the International League for Animal Rights and affiliated national leagues on the occasion of the Third International Meeting on the Rights of Animals (London 21-23 September, 1977). The Declaration, proclaimed on 15 October 1978 by the International League, affiliated leagues, associations and individuals who wish to be associated with it, will be submitted to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and then to the United Nations Organization (UNO).Faculty of Burdur Veterinary Medicine was established in 1992 and was affiliated to Akdeniz University by the law in July, 3 1992 and the number 3837. In 1996-97 academic year, the education started at Ankara University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ankara. Since1997-98 academic year, the students has continued their education in Burdur.
History of Faculty
Faculty has been established as Akdeniz University Burdur Veterinary Medicine Faculty on behalf of the law 3837 at 3 Temmuz 1992. Education started at 1996 with 30 students. When University of Mehmet Akif Ersoy established in 2006 in Burdur then Faculty became a member of the university of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University.

Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills for the benefit of society through the protection of animal health, the relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, the promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge. I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, and in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics.
