The Faculty of Science & Agriculture is recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence in research, teaching and community outreach. It offers a diverse and interesting array of degree options, some of which are not on offer at other universities. All the degrees are characterised by relevant and integrated training that encourage a participative learning experience. Students develop life learning skills that are highly transferable, which enable them to work in an ever changing environment.

Many of the academic staff enjoy international recognition and are hard-working people who are dedicated to their students and research activities. The faculty strives to produce graduates who are equipped with the necessary skills, principles and background to meet the challenges of the 21st century.

The Faculty of Science & Agriculture is spread across the Pietermaritzburg Campus and the Westville Campus. However, not all programmes are offered on each campus. In particular, Agriculture is offered only on the Pietermaritzburg Campus and Geology only on the Westville Campus.
